I am a seasoned Cardiovascular scientist with extensive expertise in echocardiography. Holding a Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Research from King’s College London and earning an MBBS (Hons) from West China School of Medicine, I bring over a decade of experience to the field.
As the Lead of the Valve Clinic at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, I’ve spearheaded initiatives to enhance echocardiography services, introducing new standard operating procedures, crafting patient leaflets, and conducting specialized training programs to elevate our team’s proficiency in advanced echocardiographic techniques. Notably, I have established a clinical scientist-led stress echo clinic, further expanding our capabilities and ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.
Beyond my clinical responsibilities, my passion for teaching is evident. I’ve mentored clinical fellows, cardiology registrars, and seasoned echocardiographers at King’s College Hospital, guiding them through echo practice and BSE accreditation. Valuable oversight was also provided to pharmacology masters and undergraduates at King’s College London’s lab.
During my tenure at the Cardiology Department of West China Hospital, I actively participated in the supervision of interns, contributing to their professional development. As a dedicated member of esteemed societies such as the BSE and EACVI, my commitment to advancing cardiovascular knowledge is further underscored.
Patient care remains at the forefront of my approach. Actively contributing to patient education, I ensure they understand their conditions and treatment options. My role extends beyond the clinical setting as, under the lead of Valve/Echo consultants, my group and I explore collaborations with various partners, including dental/anti-coagulation/chest pain, and arrhythmia clinic. Staying abreast of the latest knowledge and standard processes, I closely monitor changes in valve patients, actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions, and strive to understand patient needs. This holistic approach allows me to provide the best service to our patients.
In essence, I am not only an experienced echo scientist but also a passionate educator, committed to delivering excellence in cardiovascular care and contributing to the forefront of cardiovascular medicine.
